<br />MINUTES Page 13 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-January 3, 2005 <br /> <br />its letter along with the documents being submitted to the BIA. Mayor Young noted <br />that Oakland City Councilmembers Nancy Nadel, Jane Brunner and Jean Quan are on <br />record as opposing the casino project. Mayor Young commented that she has been <br />invited to attend an Oakland City Council Meeting on January 11 to address the <br />Oakland Council on San Leandro's position on the project. She will also attend the <br />joint meeting of the. San Leandro and Alameda Chambers of Commerce to share the <br />Council's position. Mayor Young stated that she will also be absent from the next <br />regular City Council meeting, and she and Councilmember Stephens can register their <br />votes in opposition tonight. She expressed appreciation to Councilmember Grant for <br />providing the information on casinowatch.org. <br /> <br />The City Council moved to oppose the proposed Koi Nation Indian Gaming <br />Casino in Oakland and to direct staff to prepare a resolution in opposition to the <br />project. <br /> <br />M/S/C Santos and Nardine. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 <br /> <br />Mayor Young asked that the resolution reflect the signatures of all members of the <br />Council so that the Council is clearly on record as opposing the casino project. <br /> <br />C. Report on Closed Session Actions Taken <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />11. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS <br /> <br />A. Reports on Intergovernmental Agencies <br /> <br />Councilmember Grant reported that the Associated Community Action Program <br />(ACAP) was not able to provide funding to Davis Street Family Resource Center in its <br />regular funding cycle. However, surplus funding was identified, and ACAP was able to <br />make a grant to Davis Street for $20,000. <br /> <br />B. Reports on City Council Committees <br /> <br />1. Rules and Communications Committee Meeting of December 15, 2004. <br />Accepted as submitted. <br /> <br />Councilmember Glaze commented on the Proposed Wireless Telecom Site, <br />suggesting that perhaps AT&T can be encouraged to do a "disguised" antenna at <br />the Marina to make it look like a pine tree or something similar. He <br />complimented the City Manager and staff for a relocated antenna in Washington <br />Manor that was designed to blend in with an existing sign. <br />
