<br />MINUTES <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-May 2, 2005 <br /> <br />Page 11 <br /> <br />b. Schedule for Council consideration approval of a list of programs or projects <br />which may be funded by donations from the Mayor's Community Fund. <br /> <br />By consensus, the City Council approved this recommendation to <br />schedule the item for consideration. <br /> <br />c. Forward the matter of naming a facility in honor of the late Mayor Val Gill <br />to the Library-Historical Commission for discussion and recommendation. <br />The Committee believes one of the rooms at the main library, possibly the <br />lecture hall or the history room, would be appropriate. <br /> <br />By consensus, the City Council referred the matter to the Library- <br />Historical Commission. <br /> <br />12. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Santos requested that tonight's meeting be adjourned in memory of Bill <br />Kerry. <br /> <br />Councilmember Starosciak noted that the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) <br />Bayside Groundwater Project comment period for the draft EIR has been extended for 15 <br />days to May 13, 2005. She commented on her first 30 days as a Councilmember, noting the <br />many great events held in District 4. Councilmember Starosciak commented on the need to <br />fully fund 94 sworn police officers and suggested the use of reserves for this purpose. <br /> <br />Councilmember Nardine asked the City Manager to direct the speaker, Mr. Henriques, to the <br />appropriate place to file a hate crime complaint. Mr. Jermanis indicated that staff will follow- <br />up with Mr. Henriques to determine the appropriate action to be taken. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Badger thanked his Council colleagues for returning him to the Vice Mayor <br />position. <br /> <br />Mayor Young commented that she has sent a letter to EBMUD, appealing its decision <br />regarding the 15-day extension of the public comment period and requesting an additional 30- <br />day extension. <br /> <br />Mayor Young announced that in addition to Bill Kerry, tonight's meeting would be adjourned <br />in memory of Sal Borges. <br /> <br />13. ADJOURN <br /> <br />The meeting was adjourned at 8:40 p.m. <br />. In memory of William "Bill" Kerry. <br />. In memory of Sebastian "Sal" Borges. <br />
