<br />MINUTES Page 8 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-March 20, 2006 <br /> <br />locations. Councilmember Starosciak commented that it would be helpful to have a list <br />of places in San Leandro where residents can go to dispose of batteries and fluorescent <br />lights. <br /> <br />Mayor Young reported that this year she is the Chair of the ABAG Executive Board <br />Legislative Committee. The Committee has recently reviewed proposed legislation <br />including the State infrastructure bond and several bills related to eminent domain and <br />CEQA reform. Mayor Young stated that she would share a list of bills as they progress <br />through the Legislature. <br /> <br />B. Reports on Conferences and Seminars <br /> <br />Vice Badger reported on the recent National League of Cities Conference in <br />Washington, D.C. he attended with Councilmember Grant and Assistant City Manager <br />Steve Hollister. He stated that he came away with a positive feeling about possibility of <br />funding for the Marina dredging and East 14th Street projects. Vice Mayor Badger <br />commented that he felt the smaller contingent, limited agenda, and the scheduling of the <br />meetings were effective strategies. <br /> <br />Councilmember Grant commented that the group experienced different receptions than <br />in previous trips. The people with whom they met seemed genuinely interested in the <br />City's projects and offered different strategies and perspectives. Councilmember Grant <br />reported that she received a tour of the West Wing of the White House. She reported on <br />workshops, speeches and other functions she attended. <br /> <br />Mayor Young reported that she was also in Washington, D.C. representing MTC and <br />lobbying on behalf of local transportation and transit projects, including USDOT Small <br />Starts. Her trip was funded by MTC. <br /> <br />C. Reports on City Council Committees <br /> <br />1. Business Development Committee Meeting of March 9, 2006. Accepted as <br />submitted. <br /> <br />2. Finance Committee Meeting of March 1,2006. Accepted as submitted. <br /> <br />3. Rules and Communications Committee Meeting of March 2, 2006. Accepted as <br />submitted. <br /> <br />Recommendation for City Council Consideration: <br /> <br />a. The Committee recommends the City Council schedule a work session to <br />discuss the requirements of AB 1234 and the draft resolution establishing <br />the policy of reimbursement of expenses for City Councilmembers, <br />members of boards and commissions, and City employees. <br />
