<br />CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br /> <br />STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />APPROVED AND <br />FORWARDED <br />TO CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />John Jermanis, City Manager <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />November 20, 2006 <br /> <br />FROM: Uchenna Udemezue, Director <br />Engineering and Transportation epartment <br /> <br />BY: Kenneth Joseph, City Engineer~ <br />SUBJECT PROJECT/PROJECT DESCRI-Vh'ON: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE WORK FOR THE MACARTHUR BOULEVARD <br />STREETSCAPE PROJECT (PHASE 1), PROJECT NO. 03-964-82-058 <br /> <br />This project provided roadway improvements on MacArthur Boulevard between Durant Avenue <br />and Lewis Avenue and between Dutton Avenue and Estudillo Avenue. <br /> <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Staff recommends acceptance of the work, filing of the Notice of Completion, and upon <br />completion to the satisfaction of the City Engineer of the one-year maintenance period, hereby <br />authorizes the City Manager to release the Maintenance Bond for the subject project. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />In 2000, the MacArthur Boulevard Streetscape Master Plan was created with input from the <br />West San Leandro/MacArthur Boulevard Redevelopment Advisory Committee along with the <br />homeowner associations in the area and the MacArthur Boulevard Merchant's Association. <br /> <br />Analvsis <br /> <br />On March 21, 2005 by Resolution No. 2005-035, the construction of the MacArthur Boulevard <br />Streetscape (Phase 1) was awarded to Bay Cities Paving and Grading, Inc. The improvements <br />included: <br />· Median islands <br />. Corner sidewalk bulb-outs <br />. Parking <br />· Decorative street lighting <br />. Street furniture <br />· Traffic signal modifications at MacArthur Boulevard and Dutton Avenue to add a protected <br />left turn signal <br />. Landscaping <br /> <br />The construction is now complete and staff recommends acceptance ofthe project. <br />
