<br />MINUTES Page 12 <br />City or San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-September 18, 2006 <br /> <br />Councilmember Nardine inquired about a previous request she made for a report on the goals <br />for business retention and new business attraction. City Manager Jermanis indicated that the <br />information is being compiled and will be presented to the Business Development <br />Committee. Councilmember Nardine noted a large number of vacancies on Wicks Boulevard <br />and requested that it be added to the list. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Grant requested tonight's meeting be adjourned in memory of Dr. Kermit <br />Wilson, a dentist and brother of the late Oakland Mayor Lionel Wilson. <br /> <br />Councilmember Badger commented that he would like the City to send a letter to Stanley <br />Block, a 100 year-old San Leandro resident who still plays violin in the Oakland Community <br />Orchestra. <br /> <br />Mayor Young reminded the Council that it is Constitution Week. Martin Francis has created <br />an exhibit on the Constitution at the Veterans Memorial Building, which is open to the public <br />from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. daily today through Friday. <br /> <br />Mayor Young commented on a new law, SB 61, which requires all homeowner associations <br />to have an independent third party to act as inspector for all elections. She noted that the <br />League of Women Voters is preparing to be a resource for this service. Mayor Young <br />suggested a copy of the legislation be sent to the HOAs on the City's list. <br /> <br />13. ADJOURN <br /> <br />The meeting was adjourned at 8:46 p.m. <br />.
