<br />DRAFT MINlJn~s Pagt: 3 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-Dcccmbcr 18, 200() <br /> <br />Council and requested that the Council consider a discussion of the subject at a future <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Harold Perez, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, expressing appreciation <br />for the work by Councilmembers Starosciak and Stephens in reviewing the City's contract <br />with the Alameda County Fire Dcpal1ment. Mr. Perez commented on problems with a group <br />home in his neighborhood and daily disturbances by MV Transportation vehicles that pick up <br />the residents of the home. <br /> <br />Francois Gallo, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, commenting on the <br />report, Paying 'vvilh our Health: The Real Cosl of Freighl Transport in Cal~fornia, and the <br />health dangers associated with diesel exhaust. Mr. Gallo noted that the report is available <br />online at www.pacinst.org/reports/freil':ht transport, and he stated that he hoped our State <br />legislative representatives would become more involved with the issue. Mr. Gallo offered to <br />provide a presentation to the Council of a summary of the report. <br /> <br />6. CITY MANAGER AND CITY ATTORNEY REPORTS AND COMMENTS <br /> <br />City Manager Je11l1anis commented that the Council is concemed about the health issues <br />associated with diesel exhaust, and he described some of the actions the Council has taken to <br />help mitigate the problem locally. Mr. Jennanis indicated that staff will contact MY <br />Transportation regarding the vehicle idling problem in Mr. Perez's neighborhood. <br /> <br />7. AMENDMENT OF CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />City Councilmembers or staff have an opportunity at this time to request that an item be <br />removed from the Consent Calendar for the presentation of a staff report or other special <br />consideration. Members of the Public may request the opportunity to address the City <br />Council regarding items remaining on the Consent Calendar by filling out a speaker card and <br />submitting it to the City Clerk prior to the calling of Item 7, Amendment of Consent <br />Calendar. Items remaining on the Consent Calendar will be considered for approval under <br />one motion. <br /> <br />Consent Calendar was amended to remove Items 8.C. and 8.E. Items will be considered <br />under Item 9, Items Removed from Consent Calendar. <br /> <br />8. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />Consent Calendar items arc considered for approval by the City Council with one single <br />action. As described above in Item 7, Amcndment of Consent Calendar, the City Council <br />may remove items ii'om the Consent Calendar for purposes of presentation or discussion. <br />Mcmbers of the puhlic who have requested to address the Council regarding items remaining <br />on the Consent Calendar may do so for up to 3 minutes per item with a maximum of 5 <br /> <br />3 <br />
