Matter of Approval of Appointment Process for Filling City Council District 6 Vacancy (approves the process for filling vacancy created by the election of Councilmember Tony Santos as Mayor). Councilmember Santos asked whether the nomination signatures collected by applicants prior to January 2, 2007, would count. Mayor Young pointed out that a special form would be issued to collect the signatures, and the form would not be available until January 2. Councilmember Santos commented that he has heard there are potential applicants in District 6 who have already begun collecting signatures and that they should be advised that the signatures collected before January 2 would not be accepted. · Minute Order No. 2006-046, Motion Declaring Intention to Fill the Upcoming District 6 Council Vacancy by Appointment and Direct Staff to Provide Public Notice of the Vacancy and the Application Process.
