<br />MINUTI!::S Pag..: J <br />City or San Leandro City Council, San L":andro Parking Authority, San Leandro Public financing Authority, and San <br />Leandro l~cdcvclopl11..:nt Agency Joint Mccti,t^~~=-.Janllary 2. 2007 <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Grant pointed out that there are schools adjacent to some of the streets listed in <br />the ordinance, and she stated that she believed areas surrounding schools were 25 mph zones. <br />Mayor Santos noted that the 25 mph limit applies when children are present. <br /> <br />Councilmember Souza asked whether siE,'11s would be posted near the schools to indicate that <br />the speed limit is 25 Inph when children are present. Mr. Jermanis indicated that staff would <br />look into the maller und repori back to the Council. He cornmented on the process ror setting <br />speed limits. <br /> <br />Counci Imember Stephcns rccalled a recent change to State law to allow fines in school zones <br />to be doubled i r posted and suggested that staff may want to look into it. <br /> <br />No amendment to Consent Calendar. <br /> <br />8. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />Consent C<llendar items are considered for approval by the City Council with one single <br /><lction. As described above in Item 7, Amendment of Consent Calendar, the City Council <br />may remove items fi:Olll the Consent Calendar for purposes of presentation or discussion. <br />Members of the public who have requested to address the Council regarding items remaining <br />on the Conscnt Calendar may do so for up to 3 minutes per item with a maxilnum of 5 <br />minutes for all items. Items listed on the Consent Calendar are deemed to have been read by <br />title. <br /> <br />The items on the Consent Calendar wel-e approved by the following vote: <br /> <br />M/S/C Starosciak and Stephens. OnJinance No. 2006-021, an Ordinance Relating to Speed Limits, Title VI, Chapter 1 <br />of the San Leandro Municipal Code, Establishing Prima Facie Speed Limits of 30, 35, <br />and 40 Miles Per Hour on Various Street Segments Citywide (reestablishes the posted <br />speed limits based upon engineering and traffic surveys and requirements of the San <br />Leandro Municipal Code and the Califomia Vehicle Code).
