Schedule for Council consideration the approval of the wireless towcr site <br />lease agreernent with Cingular after modifications have been made to <br />address interference issues andlcngth of agreement. <br /> <br />Councilmember Grant inquired about the portable tower. Assistant City <br />Manager Schilling noted that alter the Council has agreed to the terms ofthc <br />lease, and in order to expcdite serviec, Cingular will petition the City to erect <br />a portable tower on wheels while the pemlanent tower is being considered. <br /> <br />Councilmember Nardine asked if the ten-year lease includes a CPI increase. <br />Mr. Schilling connrmed there is an escalator in the contract. <br /> <br />By consensus of the Council, item will he schcduled for consideration. <br /> <br />c. FOl1l1 an ad hoc committee to develop a process for mcmOlializing public <br />safety employees who have fallen in the line or duty and design concepts for <br />the rnemorial. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Glaze appointed an ad hoc committee composcd of <br />Council members Badger and Nardine. <br /> <br />12. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councill1lember Badger commented that he has received several calls rrom eoncemed <br />rcsiclents rcgarding the incidents with shop equipment and cheerlcading uniionns at San <br />Leandro High School and suggesting the Police Department may want to investigate possible <br />criminal activity in these matters. Vice Mayor Glaze requested that staffreport back on thesc <br />items. <br /> <br />Councilmember Grant eOll1mcnted that Bctania Leal, the daughter of a f01l11Cr <br />Couneilmember from San Leandro's Sistcr City of Ribeirao Preto, Sao Paulo, Brazil, is <br />staying with a host family here and attcnding Arroyo High School. Tn an etIort to maximize <br />hcr cxperience in the Bay Area, Council member Grant requcsted that the Council make <br />I3ctania an honorary member of the City's Youth Advisory Commission. The City Attomey <br />confirmed the Vice Mayor could excrcise the authority to appoint Betania as an honorary <br />member of the Y AC, and there was consensus of the Council for him to do so. Vice Mayor <br />Glaze appointed Bctania Lcal as an honorary member ofthe Y AC. <br /> <br />Councilmember Stephens cOllHnented that the Council has discussed the recon/lguration of <br />East 14th Street, particularly in II-ant of City Hall, back to its original connguration. He <br />requested a report back to the Council regarding staffs timeline of their evaluation of the <br />reeonnguration. Viee Mayor Glaze notcd the item will also be discussed at an upcoming <br />Council work scssion. <br />
