She also expressed willingness to meet with Councilmember Santos ifhe chooses. Viee Mayor Glaze stated he believed the agreement on the appointments was clear and that there should be no need for further discussion. Mayor Young pointed out that there were extenuating circumstances on two ofthe three committees in question, including the advancement of the LA VWMA super sewer proj ect. Councilmember Nardine noted that in a letter to Mayor Young, she disagreed with the Mayor that the LA VWMA project was an issue. She indicated she would be leaving the meeting as well. Councilrnerllber Santos suggested the Council take a short recess. The City Council recessed from 8:05 p.m. to 8: 1 0 p.m. Vice Mayor Glaze and Councilmember Nardine did not return after the break. 12. SPECIAL PRESENTATION A. 2004 State of the City Address presented by Mayor Young Mayor Young delivered the 2004 State of the City Address with an accompanying PowerPoint presentation. She announced she will also present the State of the City Address at the Chamber of Commerce Luncheon on March 4. Mayor Young thanked Kathy Omclas and all the staff who worked on the presentation. 13. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS Councilmember Santos requested tonight's rlleeting be adjourned in memory of Tony Xavier, fonner I.D.E.S. President and Director and leader in the Portuguese corlHmmity. He also requested adjourning the meeting in memory of Roger Wong, father of Police Officer l(jrby Wong. Mayor Young cOlllrllented that tonight's mceting will also be adjourned in memory of Aileen Harris Maddern.
