<br />lHINUTES <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-July 6, 2004 <br /> <br />Page 10 <br /> <br />Mayor Young suggested the matter be referred to the Rules and Communications Committee <br />to consider raising the fine and community awareness for fireworks violations. There was <br />consensus of the Council to do so. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Badger commented that the week before the July 4th holiday, Union City and <br />Dublin ran large newspaper ads listing the addresses where fireworks would be sold. <br /> <br />7. AMENDMENT OF CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />City Councilmembers or staff have an opportunity at this time to request that an item be <br />ren10ved from the Consent Calendar for the presentation of a staff report or other special <br />consideration. Members of the Public Inay request, by filing a speaker card prior to the <br />calling of Item 7, Amendment of Consent Calendar, the opportunity to address the City <br />Council regarding items remaining on the Consent Calendar. Items remaining on the Consent <br />Calendar will be considered for approval under one motion. <br /> <br />Consent Calendar was amended to add to Item 8.J., a Motion to Appoint a Committee <br />to Author a Ballot Argument in Favor of the Charter Amendment to Provide that the <br />Term of Office for Council Members and Mayor Shall Commence January 1 Following <br />the Election. <br /> <br />Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, addressed the City Council regarding information <br />recorded in the minutes of the June 7 and June 21, 2004 City Council meetings. Mr. <br />Filipovich pointed to a document that he stated contained a comparison of the salaries of <br />police officers throughout the state, but he declined to allow the Council to see it. Mr. <br />Filipovich disputed the City Attorney's opinion that a violation of the Brown Act did not <br />occur as he'd claimed it did. <br /> <br />8. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />Consent Calendar items are considered for approval by the City Council with one single <br />action. As described above in Item 7, Amendment of Consent Calendar, the City Council <br />may remove items from the Consent Calendar for purposes of presentation or discussion. <br />Members of the public who have requested to address the Council regarding items relnaining <br />on the Consent Calendar may do so for up to 3 minutes each to a maximum of 5 minutes for <br />all items. Items listed on the Consent Calendar are deemed to have been read by title. <br /> <br />The items on the Consent Calendar were approved by the following vote: <br /> <br />M/S/C Badger and Santos.
