Council member Santos noted the issue of the Mayor's salary generated <br />more comments II-om the public than any other issue over the last two years, none or <br />whom supported the increase. Most oCthe individuals he spoke with were senior citizens <br />on fixed incomes. <br /> <br />Mayor Young noted she became involved in public service lor the good of the <br />conlll1unity, as did Councilmell1ber Santos. She added her $33,000 annual salary is less <br />than a stat1ing teacher's salary and only $50 more pef month than Mayor Karp made in <br />1993.
