<br />MINUTES Page 12 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-March 3, 2003 <br /> <br />Councilmember Grant commented on Mr. Marshall's concerns regarding the Patriot Act, <br />suggesting the iten1 could be referred to the Human Relations Commission. It was the <br />consensus of Council to refer the item to the Human Relations Commission for further <br />discussion. <br /> <br />Councilmember Santos complimented the Recreation and Human Services Department staff <br />for the Bancroft Middle School basketball program. His grandson participates, and he has <br />observed that it is a great program. Councilmember Santos commented this Wednesday will <br />be the second test of the Emergency Alerting and Warning System, and he expressed hope <br />that it would be more audible this time. Councilmember Santos noted the Council received a <br />letter from the National Arbor Day Foundation announcing San Leandro is a 2002 recipient of <br />Tree City U.S.A., and he would have liked to mention it during the recognition of employee <br />Tim Orr. He thanked the Mayor for her State of the City Address, noting he would like to see <br />it shown next year live on Channel 15. <br /> <br />Mayor Young wished the Councilmembers who will be attending the National League of <br />Cities Conference in Washington, D.C. a safe trip and hoped they would have the opportunity <br />to seek out additional funding for child care for the City. Mayor Young asked that the <br />meeting be adjourned in n1emory of Cathy Chovanes, Violet Zeno and John "Ricky" Ricardo, <br />Sr. <br /> <br />13.
