<br />MINUTES <br /> <br />Page 11 <br /> <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting and <br />San Leandro Public Financing Authority Special Meeting-April 21, 2003 <br /> <br />12. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Badger reported he attended the 3rd Annual Disaster-Resistant California <br />meeting at which Mayor Young was a featured speaker. He noted the City of San Leandro's <br />efforts in the area of disaster preparedness were highlighted at the meeting. <br /> <br />Councilmember Grant announced she was selected as the Vice Chair of the Associated <br />Community Action Program. <br /> <br />Councilmember Nardine noted the absence of Assistant City Manager Ed Schilling from the <br />meeting, asking if her chili recipe was the cause. On the subject of chili, Mayor Young asked <br />all Councilmembers to submit their recipes for the Chili Cook-off to be held at the Grand <br />Opening of Fire Station 10 on May 17,2003. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Glaze announced that all Councilmembers who will not attend the Fire Station 10 <br />Grand Opening will need to designate a representative for the City Council's Bucket Brigade. <br />Mayor Young announced the City Council's team has been challenged by a team from the <br />San Leandro Unified School District Board of Trustees. <br /> <br />Councilmember Santos stated he will not be able to attend the Fire Station Grand Opening on <br />May 17. <br /> <br />Mayor Young announced the following presentations were made since the last City Council <br />meeting: <br /> <br />· A Proclamation was presented Pat Loomes on her 25 years of service to Girls Inc. of <br />Alameda County. <br />· A Proclamation was issued designating April 2003 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in <br />the City of San Leandro. <br /> <br />Mayor Young stated she received a letter from an Oakland resident who commended the <br />efficiency of the San Leandro Police Department, naming several officers and a 9-1-1 <br />dispatcher. <br /> <br />Mayor Young requested tonight's meeting be adjourned in memory of John Shannon, former <br />Police Department Property and Evidence Technician, and in memory of H.C. McMahon, <br />father of Recreation and Human Services Director CarolYn Knudtson. <br /> <br />13.
