In those instances where outside services are needed, the City prefers to have the <br />option to put the work out for bid in order to select the most qualified contractor for the <br />project. Councilmember Santos expressed interest in being notified of future contracts <br />for this type of work in order to determine whether the City could realize savings from <br />combining contracts. Councilmember Grant expressed interest in having a more <br />competitive selection process in general. Councilmember Stephens stated his <br />understanding of the competitive bidding process. Reports on Intergovernmental Agencies <br /> <br />Councilmember Grant reported that she sent a letter on behalf of the Alameda County <br />Housing Authority to Assemblymember Ellen Corbett opposing AB 345 which pertains <br />to public housing. Councilmember Grant will provide copies of the letter to the <br />Council. <br /> <br />Councilmember Nardine reported on the public awareness outreach effort by the <br />Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District. The number of service calls to the <br />District increased from approximately 50 in April to over 500 in May. Councilmember <br />Nardine mentioned the serious mosquito problem in Yosemite. <br /> <br />Mayor Young reported the Alameda County Waste Management Authority may soon <br />approve almost $100,000 in incentive funding for the City's Food Waste Program. <br />
