PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />Conlments are limited to 3 minutes per person. When you address the City Council, you <br />should fill out a speaker card and submit it to the City Clerk so the order of speakers may be <br />determined and an official record of names and addresses obtained. The public is invited to <br />make COlnments on items of public interest NOT listed on the Agenda. <br /> <br />Harold Perez, Davis West Citizens Group, addressed the City Council regarding <br />Greenaction, a group opposed to the incinerator-like technology called "gasification." Mr. <br />Perez inquired about the development of Eden Road and about synchronizing street lights at a <br />particular intersection. <br /> <br />Mr. Perez delivered to the City Clerk from Wafaa Aborashed copies of the sample avigation <br />easement by the Port of Oakland for distribution to the Council. <br /> <br />6. CITY MANAGER AND CITY ATTORNEY REPORTS AND COMMENTS <br /> <br />City Manager J ermanis commented on gasification systems and an interest by Alallleda <br />Power in locating a gasification facility in Alameda, San Leandro or Oakland. He noted <br />Councilmember Santos has expressed concerns regarding the use of a gasification facility in <br />San Leandro. He stated there is no proposal to locate a facility in San Leandro. <br /> <br />Mr. J erm ani s reported that the Engineering and Transportation Department is working on a <br />design for Eden Road, which will be reviewed by the West San Leandro Area Redevelopment <br />Advisory Committee before consideration by the Council. He stated the City is working with <br />the County to transfer title to the property. Mr. J ermanis anticipates that the City and property <br />owners will be responsible for its development. <br /> <br />Mr. J ermanis reported that Engineering and Transportation worked with Caltrans to change <br />the signalization to improve traffic flow at Warden and Doolittle. He noted that staff will <br />raise Mr. Perez's concerns with Engineering regarding the difficulty experienced by <br />pedestrians in crossing these streets. <br /> <br />Mr. J errnanis gave an update on the recruitInent for Assistant City Manager. As a <br />replacement has not yet been identified, Ed Schilling has agreed to continue to serve as <br />Assistant City Manager. <br /> <br />7. AMENDMENT OF CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />City Councilmembers or staff have an opportunity at this time to request that an item be <br />removed from the Consent Calendar for the presentation of a staff report or other special <br />consideration. Members of the Public may request, by filing a speaker card prior to the <br />calling of Item 7, Amendment of Consent Calendar, the opportunity to address the City <br />Council regarding items renlaining on the Consent Calendar. Items relnaining on the Consent <br />Calendar will be considered for approval under one illotion. <br />
