Minute Order No. 2002-40, Confirmation of City Council Recess During the <br />Month of August. (2526) <br /> <br />The City Council confirmed the City Council will recess fo... the month of <br />August 2002. The next Regular City Council Meeting following the August <br />recess will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2002. <br /> <br />The Motion was approved without objection. <br /> <br />9. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />A. Council Member Badger commcntcd on a rcccnt articlc in Sunday's paper regarding <br />the City of Oakland and the positions thcy have had to cut. He thanked the City <br />Manager for maintaining a high level of service in San Leandro without having to <br />make personnel cuts. <br /> <br />Council Member Badger also commented on the sewers and lateral inspection issue <br />and indicated that the Daily Review ran a recent article about grants that may be <br />available for that service. <br /> <br />Council Member Badger reported on a recent meeting he and Council Member <br />Loeffler attended with Roy Nakadegawa 11"0111 BART. He reported on the issues <br />involved regarding how to address the cleanliness of San Leandro's BART stations. <br /> <br />B. Council Member Grant commented on upcoming 4th of July festivities and <br />mentioned a program in the City of Redwood City where monitors at certain <br />locations on light poles directed the Police Depat1ment to appropriate places for <br />enforcement ofpersons shooting guns in the air. <br /> <br />Council Member Grant requested that the meeting be adjoumcd in memory of <br />Brandon Tyler Megia, a three-year-old neighbor, who drowned recently. <br /> <br />C. Council Member Nardine commented on Barbara Tierney's (Floresta Homeowners <br />Association) request to utilize some of her Homeowners Association funds to have a <br />plaque done in memory of her father-in-law. She noted she would have the request <br />lorwarded to the City so as to be rcfelTcd to the Rules & Communications <br />Committee [or review and response. <br />
