<br />Minutes --- City of San Leandro City Council Meeting <br />July 15,2002 <br /> <br />Page 14 <br /> <br />The City Council approved sending the letter proposed by the Mayor to the <br />Port of Oakland requesting the formation of a South Field Flight Research <br />Group. <br /> <br />M/S/C Santos and Glaze. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 <br /> <br />F. Matter of Discussion ofComl11unity Recreation Facilities Bond Campaign. <br /> <br />Public Comment: <br /> <br />Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Dr., addressed the City Council in opposition to <br />f01111ing a collaborative with the School District to create govenUllent obligation <br />bonds. He stated seniors want Measure "G" back on the ballot and it should require <br />a 2/3rds vote of the people. <br /> <br />The following Motion was then introduced: <br /> <br />Minute Order No. 2002-46, Matter of Discussion of Community Recreation <br />Faci I ities Bond Campaign. (2891) <br /> <br />The City Council approved the appointment of a blue-ribbon ad hoc <br />committee to explore strategies for a community campaign for a public <br />facilities bond. <br /> <br />M/S/C Loeffler and Nardille. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 <br /> <br />G. Report on Closed Session Actions Taken. <br /> <br />There was no action taken. <br /> <br />9. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />A. Mayor Young commented on the imp0l1ance of the Airport issues discussion that <br />took place and indicated she will work out a plan with Council Member Santos. <br />She assured the City Council they wi II work together for the next six 1110nths Cor <br />the good oCthe City. <br /> <br />B. Council Member Santos commented on a recent D{/i~v Review article about a boy <br />named Zack Lanza who has dyslexia and has started his own business cutting <br />lawns in his neighborhood. Council Member Santos asked if the Mayor could <br />recognize him publicly for his efforts in the near future. <br /> <br />C. Council Member LoefDer thanked staff for the great Open House at City TIall held <br />recently and suggested there be citizen and City Council input/involvement lor <br />future events. <br />
