<br />MINUTI<:S <br />City of San Leandro City Council Meeting=.~~tcmbcr 16,2002 <br /> <br />Page 14 <br /> <br />Council Member Nardine stated she would like an Ad Hoc committee to include a <br />Council Member. <br /> <br />Council Member Badger commented he did not want to send mixed messages to the <br />candidate. <br /> <br />Minute Order No. 2002-054, Motion to foml an ad hoc committee for the appointment <br />of City Clerk. <br /> <br />The City Council discussed the matter of the appointment of a City Clerk and <br />formed an ad hoc committee-Mayor V oung, Vice Mayor Glaze, and Council <br />Member Nardine (alternate: Council Member Grant) to meet with the City <br />Manager's recommended candidate. <br /> <br />M/S/C Glaze and Nardine. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 <br /> <br />G. RepOli on Closed Session Actions Taken. <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />9. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />A. Council Members Badger and Nardine reported on the September 12, 2002 City and San <br />Leandro Unified School District Liaison COImnittee meeting. Council Member Nardine <br />stated there has been an issue regarding traffic fyom San Leandro High School affecting <br />the neighborhoods. Thcre is a plan to re-stripe the parking lot, move the fence after the <br />building is complete, and consider pennit parking on McKinley Court. A petition has <br />been submitted by the residents, and, as a next step, the Police Department to meet with <br />them. This process may serve as a pilot program for addressing parking impacted areas. <br /> <br />Council Member Loeffler commented that tlus issue was brought to the San Leandro <br />Unified School District as a high priority item. He would like to see staff proceed. <br /> <br />Council Member Nardine said she had not yet heard lrom the school district on the <br />funding of the project. <br /> <br />B. Council Member Nardine commented on Consent Calendar Item C and asked i fthere was <br />an historic building design ordinance. City Manager Jermanis reported there is not yet an <br />ordinance but a proposal will be brought to the City Council. She also commented on the <br />women's locker room at the Boys' and Girls' Club, reporting it is not private enough, the <br />benches arc too small, and participants have to walk through the showers to get to the <br />toilet facilities. <br /> <br />C. Council Member Lodfler commended staff for the September 11 Program. He also asked <br />about any plans for placement of the new blinking crosswalk lights in areas with high <br />
