<br />MINUTES <br />City of San Leandro City CounciVSan Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting~December 16,2002 <br /> <br />Page 5 <br /> <br />Item 6.F was removed from the Consent Calendar to New Business and renumbered <br />as item 7.A.l: <br /> <br />7 A.l Resolution No. 2002-174~ resolution declaring results of General Municipal Election held <br />Tuesday, Noven1ber 5, 2002 (declares the results of the November 5, 2002, General <br />Municipal Consolidated Election for the City of San Leandro). (1055) <br /> <br />Lou Filipovich, 15376 LaVerne Drive, addressed the City Council to register his <br />concern that the City Council meeting minutes are not verbatim, citing as an example the <br />summary of his comments to the Council in the November 18, 2002 minutes. Mayor <br />Young ren1inded Mr. Filipovich he must confine his comments to the New Business item. <br />Mr. Filipovich then referred to a staff report dated May 20, 2002 regarding rules for the <br />November 5, 2002 election and stated his belief that the rules were not followed. <br /> <br />M/S/C Grant and Santos. Ayes: 7; Noes; 0 <br /> <br />By the consensus of Council, the following item was added to the agenda: <br /> <br />7 A.2 Recognition to Retiring Councilmember Garry Loeffler <br /> <br />The Mayor and Council each made comments in honor and recognition of <br />Councilmember Loeffler, elTIphasizing his many accomplishments as a Councilmember, <br />his commitment and concern both for the community and his fellow Councilmembers, his <br />humanitarian efforts and his work as a teacher, mentor and role model. <br /> <br />Mayor Young presented Councilmember Loeffler with a plaque for his years of service on <br />the City Council from 1994-2002. Mayor Young also presented Councilmember Loeffler <br />with a flag designed for the San Leandro Pride Program, noting he had been given one <br />previously and had given it away in his "humanitarian spirit." <br /> <br />Councilmember Loeffler thanked his wife and three children for their support during his <br />service on the Council and made his final remarks as a member of the Council. <br /> <br />It should be noted a more comprehensive recognition event will be planned in 2003 for <br />Mr. Loeffler in order to allow for community plaudits to be presented regarding his <br />servIce. <br /> <br />B. Installation of new City Councihnembers. <br /> <br />Peggy Rora, Superior Court Judge of Alameda County, administered the Oath of Office to <br />the newly-elected Mayor and City Councilmembers: <br /> <br />.
