PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />Public Comments are limited to 5 minutes per person, for a total time period of one <br />hour. When you address the City Council, you should fill out a speaker card and <br />submit it to the City Clerk so the order of speakers may be determined and an official <br />record of names and addresses obtained. The public is invited to make any comments <br />related to Agenda items, or other items of public interest, at this time. <br /> <br />A. Larry Smith, 958 Arguello Drive, addressed the City Council regarding unsafe <br />young drivers in his neighborhood and the need to regulate motorized vehicles that <br />are not covered through the Department of Motor Vehicles such as motorized <br />scooters, motorized skateboard, motorized bicycles and motorized carts. <br /> <br />B. Stephen Chandler, Attorney, 1330 East 14th Street, addressed the City Council <br />representing the Yokota family regarding the Yokota Nursery. He indicated that <br />the Y okotas do not wish their property to be deemed an historic landmark. He <br />noted that he would be happy to meet with representatives from the City to discuss <br />this issue further. <br /> <br />5. CITY MANAGER'S REPORT AND COMMENTS <br /> <br />A. The City Manager responded to the issue raised regarding motorized scooters and <br />noted that he will refer the issue to the City Attorney and Police Chief for a staff <br />report and a recommendation to be brought back for City Council consideration. <br /> <br />B. The City Manager remarked on the comments made by the Attorney representing <br />the Y okotas. He stated that it is staff's intention to bring a resolution to the City <br />Council, which will state that the City has no intention of changing the use of the <br />Yokota property. He indicated that the Yokota property could remain a nursery <br />for however long they choose to operate as such. <br /> <br />6. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS <br /> <br />A. Reports on Intergovernmental Agencies <br /> <br />The Mayor remarked that the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) <br />had designated money for the Bay Crossing Study and that she has requested the <br />City of San Leandro have representation and be included in the Technical Advisory <br />Committee. <br />
