CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />A. Council Member Grant commented on the success of the Cherry Festival. She also <br />expressed a concern with the amount of debris being left in City streets lately. <br /> <br />B. Council Member Loeffler commented on the Memorial Day Services in Hayward; <br />that he would like to see an animal Control Incident Report on a regular basis, and <br />concluded by commenting that the Cherry Festival was a good community event. <br /> <br />C. Mayor Young commented that the Cherry Festival was a very successful <br />community event and acknowledged the staff involved. <br /> <br />11. CONTINUED PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />Continued Public Comments is limited to the balance of speaker cards that have been <br />submitted to the City Clerk and any new speakers who have not been heard. <br />Comments will be limited to 5 minutes per speaker. <br /> <br />AI Rosinga, 534 Parrott, addressed the City Council regarding the vacancy in District <br />1. He indicated that he feels the vacancy should be filled by Special Election and that <br />the City should go back to holding elections separate from the County. Mr. Rosinga <br />also expressed his desire to see Council Members elected by district rather than at- <br />large. He stated there should be another Ad Hoc Committee to look at the Charter <br />and other alternatives for elections in San Leandro. He concluded by stating that there <br />needs to be a re-examination ofthe division of county property tax dollars. <br /> <br />Paul Nahm, 1591 Daniels Drive, addressed the City Council stating that in 1994, he <br />made a pledge not to run for office if he were appointed to fill a vacancy and he kept <br />that promise. He concluded by commending the City on a great Cherry Festival. <br /> <br />12.
