<br />DRAFT MINUTES Page 6 <br />City of San L~allClro City Council and San_~,eandro Redevelopment ^g~ncy Joint ~eeting- Ja.'Luary Hi, 200? <br /> <br />I ,ou Filipovich, San I,eandro resident, addressed the City Council, providing a packet of <br />documents to the Counci I comprised or various self-authored documents and news articles <br />related to elections. <br /> <br />Bo Johansen, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council regarding a letter <br />submitted by another resident conceming Item 3.A. which he ldt should have been read aloud <br />to the public. Mr. Johansen comrnented that it has been 14 months since the completion of <br />Walnut Drive, and the residents have not yet received written, detailed documentation ofthe <br />construction data and costs. <br /> <br />Darlene l<:vans, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, expressmg concem <br />regarding the licensing requirements for peddlers with handcarts. <br /> <br />Harold Perez, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, commenting on the <br />develop,nent of Eden Road and ongoing problems with his neighbor. <br /> <br />6. CITY MANAGl<:R AND CITY ATTORNEY REPORTS AND COMMENTS <br /> <br />City Manager Jennanis addressed Mr. Henriques' comments, noting that the City Council is <br />interested in maintaining civility. Regarding the concems about the lack of a grocery store on <br />Davis Street, Mr. Jcnnanis commented on the difficulty for neighborhood grocery stores to <br />compete with large chain b'Tocel)' stores. He noted that he and City Attomey Jayne Williams <br />have discllssed with Mr. Filipovich the issues he raised in 2004. Regarding Mr. Johansen's <br />con11nents, Mr. Jemlanis indicated that he would work with the Engineeling and <br />Transportation Department to provide the requested infollnation to the residents. Mr. <br />Jennanis commented that the Police Department checks peddlers to ensure they are licensed <br />both by the City and the County Health Department. <br /> <br />City Attomey Williams commented that she and City Manager Jennanis have mcl with Mr. <br />Filipovich on several occasions and responded to his correspondence, advising him that his <br />referendum is not properly formatted, <br /> <br />7. AMENDMF:NT OF CONSENT CALl<:NDAR <br /> <br />City Councilmembers or stair have an opportunity at this time to request that an item be <br />removed from the Consent Calendar for the presentation of a staff report or other special <br />consideration. Members of the Public may request the opportunity to address the City <br />Council regarding items remaining on the Consent Calendar by filling out a speaker card and <br />submitting it to the City Clerk prior to the calling of Item 7, Amendment of Consent <br />Calendar. Items remaining on the Consent Calendar will be considered for approval under <br />one motion. <br /> <br />Regarding Item 8.A., Vice Mayor Grant requested that the Council receive infoI111ation on the <br />datcs and timcs for City Council Committee meetings. <br />
