<br />WIIEREAS, in July 2006, the City of San Leandro adopted Resolution 2006-076 <br />Authorizing Participation in the Alameda County Climate Protection Project and Membership in <br />ICLEI Local Governments for SustainabiIity; and <br /> <br />WIIEREAS, in September 2006, the State of California adopted the Global Wamling Act <br />of 2006 which creates a statewide greenhouse gas emission limit that would reduce emissions to <br /> <br />1990 levels by 2002; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Leandro, with assistance from lCLEI and Stopwaste.org, <br />completed a 2005 baseline Community-wide and Municipal Operations emissions inventory; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the second step of the Alameda County Climate Protection Project is adoption <br />of an emissions reduction target; and <br /> <br />NOW THEREfORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of San Leandro adopts a <br />greenhouse gas emissions reduction goal of25% below 2005 levels by 2020. <br /> <br />BE IT FINALL Y RESOLVED, that the City of San Leandro will fonn an internal task force to <br />develop a Climate Action Plan and bring the plan to City Council for adoption. <br /> <br />Introduced by Council Member <br /> <br />and passed and adopted <br /> <br />this 5th day of february, 2007, by the following called vote: <br /> <br />Members of the Council: <br /> <br />AYES: <br /> <br />NOES: <br /> <br />ABSENT: <br /> <br />Attest: <br /> <br />____._.__ ___. _. ____, _0"- <br /> <br />Marian I landa, City Clerk <br />
