FOR INCLUSION IN TIlE FEDERAL FY 08 HUDGET. SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council choose no Jlwre than three projects 1'(Jr presentation to our congrcssional representatives for inclusion in the Federal FY 08 Budget. BACKGROUND Annually, City Coundimembers travel to Washington, D.C. during the National League oCCities conference and lobby our congressional delegation to include select city projects for funding in the Federal Budget. This process, coordinated by our Federal Relations Representative Len Simon, includes meetings with Senators, Representatives and staff and presentation of written rnaterial in support of our projects. These efforts have proven successful with recent partially funded projects including Marina Dredging, East 141h Street Improvelnents, the Davis/XXO I nterchange and the Senior Center. The following projects, based on input Ji'OlTl statT and Len Simon, arc presented f<:lr Council consideration: Marina Dredging - $2.5 million project; $675,000 allocated ry 06 (Feinstein): $500,000 earmark FY 07 (Feinstein) eliminated; request $1 ,X75,000 FY 08. Eastl41h Street Improvements - $3.9 million Phase I project; $350,000 allocated FY 06 (Stark): $200,000 earmark FY 07 (Stark) eliminated; request $3 million FY ox.
