<br />DRAFT MINUTES Page 3 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting~Febrnary 5, 2007 <br /> <br />Tom Saunders, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, commenting about <br />problems with parked vehicles blocking the sidewalk. <br /> <br />Randal Pearce, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, providing a suggestion <br />for publicly acknowledging small businesses that have been victimized by crime. <br /> <br />Shirley Rocha, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council regarding community <br />compliance violations and the resulting unsightliness in her neighborhood. Mrs. Rocha <br />requested that the City strictly enforce compliance violations. <br /> <br />Merv Rocha, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council regarding community <br />compliance. Mr. Rocha asked what actions have been taken recently to strengthen <br />community compliance regulations. <br /> <br />Isabel McGeorge, Jose Fuentes and Clydeen Pederson, San Leandro residents, addressed <br />the City Council, inquiring about the enforcement of the proposed ordinance relating to <br />oversized commercial vehicles parked on City streets and in residential areas. <br /> <br />Harold Perez, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, commenting on parking <br />issues and monster homes in his neighborhood, Eden Road and the poor condition of Marina <br />Boulevard. <br /> <br />Lou Filipovich, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, commenting on a <br />document he previously distributed to the Council and news media, noting there has been no <br />response or publicity. <br /> <br />6. CITY MANAGER AND CITY ATTORNEY REPORTS AND COMMENTS <br /> <br />City Manager J ermanis noted the common theme among the speakers related to community <br />compliance. He reported that he and City Attorney Jayne Williams have worked over the past <br />year to strengthen the areas of the ordinance on which the speakers commented. Mr. Jermanis <br />briefly described the ordinance being considered tonight and indicated that the Council will be <br />asked to review the level of police staffing required to enforce the ordinance. Mr. J ermanis <br />commented on the need to balance the need for enforcement with citizen's private property <br />rights. <br /> <br />Mr. J ermanis addressed the issue of the public's awareness of crime, noting that much of the <br />information is available to the public through the Police Department and reported by the <br />newspapers. <br /> <br />Regarding Marina Boulevard, Mr. Jermanis pointed out that it needs major attention, and the <br />Council will be challenged to find funding for repairs for many of the City's streets. <br /> <br />Mr. Jermanis noted that both he and City Attorney Jayne Williams have commented <br />previously on Mr. Filipovich's document, informing him that they believed his allegations <br />
