CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

GEOLOGIC HAZARDS - An obvious earthquake induced geologic hazard consists of the risk of severe
shaking, common to the entire region. The risk of other potential geologic hazards, including liquefaction,
lateral spreading, landsliding, lurching, rupture, are all low or absent, based on the available information,
including the Seismic Hazard Zones Map for the San Leandro quadrangle.

The presence of highly expansive surface soils should be further evaluated because such soils can
heave and crack shallow foundations and slabs-on-grade. Placement of select fill, soil treatment, or
drilled piers and supported floors are usually designed to minimize foundation movement from expansive
soil movement. The entire foundation system should be tied together and well reinforced to minimize the
risk of differential movement from expansive soil movement.

GENERAL - Based on the observations and preliminary findings I conclude that the geotechnical
conditions are satisfactory for the development of the property as the proposed mixed use.

SEISMIC DESIGN - Based upon mapped soil conditions the current seismic design values should be
appropriate for the proposed development. Accordingly, the following values would probably apply.

Seismic Zone
SoH Profile (stiff soil)
Seismic Source Type (Hayward Fault)
Closest Distance to Seismic Source

4

So
A

1 km

LIMITA liONS AND ADDITIONAL SERVICES

The consultation has been performed in accordance with the generally accepted standards of
geotechnical engineering practice.
