<br />CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br /> <br />Approved and forwarded <br />to the City Council <br /> <br />STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />April 26, 2007 <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />John Jermanis, City Manager <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />Justinian Caire, Human Resources Dire~ <br /> <br />SUBJECT: RESOLUTION AMENDING THE 2007 SAN LEANDRO <br />MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATION SALARY SCHEDULE TO ADD AND SET THE <br />SALARY RANGE FOR THE STREET MAINTENANCE MANAGER AND <br />FACILITIES AND OPEN SP ACE MANAGER AND DELETE THE STREET <br />MANAGER, FACILITIES MANAGER AND OPEN SPACE MANAGER <br />CLASSIFICATIONS. <br /> <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Council approve a resolution amending the 2007 San <br />Leandro Management Organization Salary Schedule to add and set the salary ranges for <br />the Street Maintenance Manager and Facilities and Open Space Manager and delete the <br />Street Manager, Facilities Manager and Open Space Manager classifications. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />In 2005, the Public Works Department reorganized its workforce. As part of the <br />reorganization plan three management positions were created (Streets Manager, Facilities <br />Manager and Open Space Manager). The Streets Manager was filled by a current staff <br />member. The Facilities Manager was filled through an open recruitment process and the <br />Open Space Manager remained vacant with assigned duties being handled by existing <br />staff <br /> <br />The department has determined that the duties of the three management positions can be <br />performed by two positions without a reduction in efficiency or productivity. Under this <br />plan the current three management positions listed above would be replaced by two <br />(Street Maintenance Manager and Facilities and Open Space Manager). In accordance <br />with the increase in the depth and breadth of responsibilities demanded of the new <br />classifications, the salary ranges will be increased from the current range 9 ($7,918 - <br />$9,624) to range 8 ($8,314 - $10,105). <br />
