<br />" . <br /> <br />Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and <br />San Leandro Economic Development Agency <br />Joint Meeting - October 2, 2000 <br /> <br />Page 8 <br /> <br />Barbara Sidari, San Lorenzo Unified School District, 15367 Mendocino St., <br />addressed the City Council stating that she had previously stepped down from the <br />GP AC due to her personal schedule, not because of a conflict of interest or the Brown <br />Act. She indicated that she is now returning to the GP AC as a representative of the San <br />Lorenzo School District. <br /> <br />Michael VerBrugge, 1551 - 136th Ave., addressed the City Council regarding the <br />upcoming issue of the San Leandro School District acquiring property from Pacific Gas <br />& Electric. He indicated that he is not in favor of that transaction and further clarified <br />that he lives behind the School. <br /> <br />The City Attorney clarified that the issue of the sale of land by PG&E to the School <br />District should be addressed by the School District during their community <br />outreach/comment period. Although the City Council may want to make a <br />recommendation as to whether or not they are supportive of the proposal, the City has <br />no land use jurisdiction in this matter. <br /> <br />5. CITY MANAGER'S REPORT AND COMMENTS <br /> <br />The City Manager introduced Justinian Caire, the new Human Resources Manager for <br />the City of San Leandro. <br /> <br />6. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS <br /> <br />A. Reports on Intergovernmental Agencies <br /> <br />1. The Mayor reported on her attendance at the Congestion Management <br />Authority Meeting last Thursday and indicated that the Governor has signed a <br />Safe Routes to Bay Area School Grant for San Leandro; noted recent 202 <br />funding approved from Housing and Urban Development (RUD) for the <br />ABHOW Senior Housing project on the old San Leandro Chrysler site, and <br />reported the funding for dredging of the San Leandro Channel was approved. <br /> <br />The Mayor commented further that San Leandro has been named a FEMA <br />Project Impact City with a grant of $300,000 over 3 years to promote our <br />efforts as a disaster-resistent community and that the City is continuing to work <br />with HUD for the funding of the Fuller Lodge project. <br /> <br />In conclusion, the Mayor noted there would be a dedication of a new AlC <br />Transit Bus, with a San Leandro City logo for service in San Leandro, on <br />October 4th at 5:30 p.m. at Bayfair Shopping Center. She added that she has a <br />copy of a study on East Bay Paratransit statistics that she will make available to <br />the balance of Council as requested.. <br /> <br />2. Council Member Nardine indicated that she has attended her first Mosquito <br />Abatement Board Meeting and has fielded .her first complaint about mosquitoes <br />in San Leandro. <br />
