<br />EXHIBIT 3 <br /> <br />NEGOTIATIONS BETWEEN <br />THE ALAMEDA COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT AND <br />THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FIREFIGHTERS <br /> <br />The Fire Department is operating under an MOU between the International Association <br />of Firefighters (Local 55A) and the Alameda County Fire Department effective January <br />1, 2000 and extended through December 31, 2007. <br /> <br />Negotiations are currently underway with the following individuals representing the <br />Alameda County Fire Department: David Roche, Deputy Fire Chief; Dave Lord, Deputy <br />Fire Chief; Alameda County Human Resource Services Director; and a labor consultant. <br /> <br />Fire personnel salaries are set based on a formula included in the Provision for Dispute <br />Resolution and included as an appendix to the MOU. The appendix is attached. <br /> <br />Items currently being negotiated Include: <br />. Medical benefits cost containment <br />. Unfunded liabilities <br />. Term of contract & triggers for re~opening agreement <br />. Sick leave utilization <br />. Promotional requirements <br />. Maintenance of wages & benefits at median <br />
