<br />MINUTES Page 6 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-May 7, 2007 <br /> <br />Vera Ayers, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, expressing concern <br />regarding the height and size of the project, the exceptions made to the zoning <br />requirements and the inadequacy of the public notice. Ms. Ayers urged the Council to <br />represent the community on this matter. <br /> <br />William Artz, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, expressing concern <br />that the project does not fit in with the neighborhood. Mr. Artz commented on the <br />parking issue, the adequacy of tandem parking, and the narrow streets adjacent to the <br />proj ect. <br /> <br />Rick Murray, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, commenting that he <br />feels the project would be a change for the better and would improve the neighborhood. <br /> <br />Leah Scherbe, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, commenting that <br />she feels the project is too dense and would cause traffic impacts on the nearby narrow <br />streets. <br /> <br />Patty V onnegut, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, expressing <br />concern that the project is too high, too dense, and out of proportion to the area. Ms. <br />V onnegut urged the Council to deny the project. <br /> <br />Ken Johnston, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, commenting that <br />this development would set a precedent for concessions on future developments. Mr. <br />Johnston requested that the Council consider the density of this project. <br /> <br />Hillary Van Austen, President of the Broadmoor Neighborhood Association <br />(DNA), addressed the City Council, commenting that the BNA was only recently made <br />aware of the changes to project. Ms. Van Austen requested that the Council consider <br />delaying its vote to allow the BNA time to review the changes to the project at its next <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Roy H. Gregg, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, expressing <br />concerns regarding the traffic and parking impacts from the proj ect, as well as the <br />impact to the existing homeowner of a three-story home across the street and tot lot next <br />door. Mr. Gregg expressed opposition to the project and urged the Council to postpone <br />its decision to allow further review ofthe project. <br /> <br />Patricia Martin, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, commenting on <br />the traffic volume and speed of traffic flow on MacArthur Boulevard. Ms. Martin <br />commented that the project is too tall and asked what the community is receiving in <br />exchange for the trade-offs. Ms. Martin urged the Council to take the concerns of the <br />residents seriously. <br /> <br />Sue Chen, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, stating objection to the <br />project as currently presented, as well as to the project approval process.
