<br />CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br /> <br />STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />APPROVED AND <br />FORWARDED <br />TO CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />DATE: June 11,2007 <br /> <br /> <br />TO: John Jermanis, City Manager <br /> <br />FROM: Jesse Baloca, Finance Direc~ <br />BY: Don Brockman, Purchasing Agent .~ <br /> <br />SUBJECT: RESOLUTION DECLARING AS SURPLUS NINETEEN (19) VEHICLES, <br />ONE (1) PIECE OF HEAVY EQUIPMENT AND TWO (2) PIECES OF <br />EQUIPMENT AND AUTHORIZING THE SALE THEREOF AT PUBLIC <br />AUCTION. <br /> <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Staff recommends Council declare the vehicles and equipment as surplus and authorize sale of <br />said vehicles and equipment at public auction. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />There are twenty-two (22) pieces of City equipment ready for sale via public auction. Currently <br />out-of-service, these are being stored at the Public Works Service Center. <br />Sixteen (16) of the nineteen (19) vehicles have met the criteria of the City's vehicle replacement <br />policy. This includes the number of miles on each vehicle, increasing maintenance costs, and <br />other factors. In addition, each unit is fully depreciated. The three (3) remaining vehicles were <br />"totaled" in collisions and are unusable. <br /> <br />The piece of heavy equipment has reached the end of its useful life and meets the replacement <br />criteria. It is fully depreciated as well. <br /> <br />The two (2) pieces of equipment are a garden tractor and root pruner that have both reached the <br />end oftheir useful life and are fully depreciated. <br /> <br />Section 1-6-500 of the San Leandro Municipal Code, authorizes the purchasing agent to sell <br />these items as surplus at auction. A public auction is scheduled for June 23, 2007. Public notice <br />ofthe auction and auction preview will be posted on the City's web site and in the Daily Review. <br /> <br />Current City Council Policy <br />Not Applicable <br /> <br />Previous City Council Action(s) <br />Not Applicable <br />
