Why?

1. It's clearly not different from Albertson's use, in fact it is more tailored to San
Leandro's needs than the Albertson's whicll was clearly merchandised for Oakland residents.
Albertson's-pick knuckles, Grocery Outlet-discounted Danish Blu Cheese and Imported
Italian Cakes. Also, it is ludicrous to call something that small a Supermarket.

2. I am an upscale grocery shopper and still shop at Grocery Outlet. (We do most of our
buying at Trader Joe's, Costco, Organic Delivery, Whole Foods and Mi Pueblo). It therefor
is fitting for our market.

3. It is clearly a better alternative than either remaining vacant or the 5 story
monstrosity proposed for the property under the Downtown Transit-Oriented Development
Strategy.

In conclusion, I support the appeal of the zoning decision in favor of Grocery Outlet who
also happens, by the way, to be headquartered locally!

Debra J Sarver

PS. While I'm at it, I also support the application for a use permit for Santos Indian
Foods to serve prepared restaurant or snack food. Indian snacks are the best! Right now we
have to drive to Milpitas or Berkeley. (And out of town for the above mentioned markets,
none of which are in San Leandro except Costco!)

Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com
The most personalized portal on the Web!

1
