Ayes: 6; Noes: 0; Absent: 1 (Stephens) <br /> <br />8.K. Resolution No. 2007-094, Resolution Approving Employment Agreement with City <br />Manager John 1. Jermanis (extends employment until June 30, 2008). (1502) <br /> <br />Councilmember ProIa stated that while he believed Mr. Jermanis is doing a good job, he <br />disagreed with the principle of giving the highest paid worker a larger percentage <br />increase than the lowest paid worker. Councilmember ProIa noted that Mr. Jermanis <br />received the same increase as did other employees, and additionally the percentage of <br />salary he receives over the next highest paid employee was increased from 15% to 20%. <br /> <br />Councilmember Starosciak commented that based on the salary comparisons with other <br />City Managers in the area, she felt the increase was appropriate and well within the <br />comparisons with other City Managers. <br /> <br />Mayor Santos concurred with Councilmember Starosciak's statement. <br /> <br />Councilmember Souza also concurred with Councilmember Starosciak, and commented <br />that the salary comparison process is performed at all employee levels, not just <br />executive management. <br /> <br />Mayor Santos recalled that several years ago, the City Council performed an exhaustive <br />study of salary comparisons for all City employees, and many salaries were adjusted as a <br />result. A <br />presentation was made on poverty and low-income working families. <br />
