Wahl, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, expressing <br />support for the denial of Grocery Outlet's appeal. Mr. Wahl commented that he did not <br />believe bringing in Grocery Outlet would benefit other downtown retail locations. <br /> <br />Lou Filipovich, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, commenting that <br />this is all about seizing private property to resell it for private development with no <br />requirement for public use. Mr. Filipovich commented on proposed state legislation <br />regarding the use of eminent domain. <br /> <br />Leonard Reppond, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council in support of <br />denying the appeal. Mr. Reppond commented that he has formed a committee, <br />Concerned Citizens for Responsible Development in San Leandro, and has gathered <br />signatures from his neighbors in support of the denial. Mr. Reppond commented that <br />the location of the property is critical to the future development of the city. <br /> <br />Johanne Dictor, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, submitting a <br />petition on behalf of Concerned Citizens for Responsible Development in San Leandro. <br />Ms. Dictor commented that the petition was signed by residents who oppose the <br />location of Grocery Outlet at the subject property. Ms. Dictor stated that she believed <br />Grocery Outlet would not produce the synergy necessary to create a vibrant downtown. <br /> <br />Justin Agrella, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, speaking in support <br />of the appeal by Grocery Outlet. Mr. Agrella commented that the increase in affordable <br />housing would bring in low-income residents who would need a place to shop. Mr. <br />Agrella stated that he would like to see the property developed and urged the Council to <br />think reasonably. <br /> <br />Paul G. Vargas, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council in support of the <br />Grocery Outlet appeal. Mr. Vargas commented that the City is putting up roadblocks to <br />developers, and that the City's demographics support a Grocery Outlet, but not a Trader <br />Joe's. <br /> <br />Brent Beavers, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, commenting that <br />he is a bargain shopper and supports Grocery Outlet, but not at the proposed location. <br /> <br />Joyce Martens, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, commenting that <br />she visited the Grocery Outlet in Hayward and did not feel that a similar store would be <br />right for downtown San Leandro. <br /> <br />Peggy Coffman, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council in support of a <br />Grocery Outlet downtown. Ms. Coffman commented that she felt that senior citizens <br />would shop there. <br /> <br />Dennis Hicks, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, commenting in <br />support of locating the Grocery Outlet downtown. <br />
