4. Public Comments <br />Tiffany Crain from Congregations Organizing for Renewal shared her view that it was great <br />to see the Rent Review Board positions being filled. She also asked if the City had <br />considered promoting the program to make more renters aware of it. Manager Liao shared <br />that the law requires all landlords notify tenants of the rent review board along with rent <br />increase notifications. Ms. Crain recommended the materials be made available in Spanish. <br />5. Committee Member Comments <br />Vice Mayor Grant shared that as a member of the Housing Authority she learned that a <br />former Section 8 tenant was able to purchase a below market rate (BMR) home in Dublin <br />using a first time home buyer loan along with other creative financing. Manager Jermanis <br />stated that an update on the sale of BMR units at the Willows will be provided at the next <br />meeting. <br />Councilmember Stephens shared that the four California cities with the highest cost of <br />housing are: Santa Barbara, Pleasanton, Santa Monica and Yorba Linda. He requested staff <br />provide information on Oakland's affordable housing program at a future meeting. <br />6. Adjourn <br />The meeting adjourned at 5:00 p.m. <br />3 <br />
