DRAFT MINUTES <br /> Page 9 <br />September 17, 2007 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting <br /> <br /> <br />Mayor Santos reported that he attended the ACTA/ACTIA Administrative Finance and <br />Legislative Committee meeting last week. He inquired about $250 million remaining in <br />the ACTA budget, and the Committee will receive a report on this matter at its next <br />meeting. Mayor Santos reported that EBDA is still working on personnel issues. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Grant reported on the Housing Authority meeting last week. An individual <br />who came through the self-sufficiency program purchased a below market rate home in <br />Dublin. <br /> <br />B. Reports on Conferences and Seminars <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Grant reported that she attended workshops on civic engagement and <br />inclusionary housing at the League of California Cities conference in Sacramento on <br />September 5-8, 2007. <br /> <br />Councilmember Souza reported that she also attended the League conference, and took <br />workshops on survival Spanish and affordable home ownership. She suggested that <br />Rick Jacobus from Oakland, who was one of the presenters at the conference, be invited <br />to speak on inclusionary housing. <br /> <br />Councilmember Starosciak reported that she also attended the League conference. The <br />East Bay Division met during the conference and elected the new division president, <br />who is from Pleasant Hill, and the first vice president, who is from Pleasanton. <br />Councilmember Starosciak commended Tom Liao for his presentation on the topic of <br />converting motels to affordable housing. Councilmember Starosciak reported that she <br />attended a presentation by MTC on transit-oriented development, which held San <br />Leandro up as amodel for its Downtown TOD Strategy. The presentation impressed <br />upon her the importance of creating quality jobs within our TOD area. <br />Councilmember Prola reported on the Lavender Seniors conference on aging in place <br />which was well-attended. He thanked Mayor Santos for allowing him to welcome them <br />to San Leandro, and he thanked Community Relations Representative Kathy Ornelas for <br /> <br />Mayor Santos reported on his attendance at the League conference. He reported on an <br />interesting workshop on creating a legacy. Mayor Santos commented on a local <br />company which builds clean diesel engines, and stated that he would like to tour the <br />facility. <br /> <br />Mayor Santos reported that the East Bay Regional Parks District would like to <br />reauthorize Measure AA, and the City could realize $3 million or more for its park <br />programs if this happens. He suggested mentioning this to the Recreation and Parks <br />Commission. Mayor Santos reported on a meeting of the Executive Committee of the <br />East Bay Economic Development Alliance at which they discussed rail development in <br />Northern California. <br /> <br /> <br />
