<br />The Wellness Policy & <br /> <br /> <br />Nutrition Services ••• <br /> <br />••s• <br />"" <br />•.•; <br />~' <br /> • In July 2006, the Board Adopted a new comprehensive Wellness <br /> Policy, which promotes student health and supports childhood <br /> obesity. <br /> All meals served by the District are designed so that students receive <br /> no more than 30% calories from fat in a five-day period and less than <br /> 10% from saturated fat. <br /> All schools now offer a nutritious breakfast through the National <br /> Breakfast Program. <br /> For the breakfast, students receive cereal or a hot item, fresh fruit and <br /> milk, and are provided one-fourth of the Recommended Dietary <br /> Allowance for protein, calcium, iron, V'damin A, Vitamin C and calories. <br /> The SLUSD Nutrition Services Department is dedicated to positive <br /> outcomes for all children, and recognizes the important connection <br /> between healthy nutrition and learning.
