Jermanis <br />C ~ ~anager <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 3, CHAPTER 3-4, SECTION 3-4-110 OF THE SAN <br />LEANDRO MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO DISASTER COUNCIL MEMBERSHIP <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br />This ordinance amends the San Leandro Municipal Code to add an additional City Council <br />member to the composition of the City's Disaster Council. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Disaster Council membership had included two members of the City Council-the Mayor <br />and Vice Mayor-for many years. In 1998, the membership was amended to provide for a third <br />City Council seat on the Disaster Council to increase the efficacy. In 2006, the membership was <br />amended to remove this third seat to reflect actual practice and composition, thus reverting to the <br />original membership composition. <br />Analysis <br />Section XN of the Council Members Handbook states that appointments to City Council <br />standing (internal) committees shall be assigned by the Mayor and be ratified by the entire City <br />Council. In determining the 2008 assignments to the various City Council committees, it was <br />suggested that it would be beneficial to add a third Council member to the Disaster Council. <br />Current City Council Policy <br />Not applicable. <br />Previous City Council Action(s) <br />• Ordinance No. 98-013, adopted on October 19, 1998, added one City Council member to the <br />membership of the Disaster Council. <br />• Ordinance No. 2006-006, adopted on February 6, 2006, removed one City Council member <br />from the membership of the Disaster Council. <br />
