DRAFT MINUTES <br /> Page 7 <br />February 4, 2008 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting <br /> <br /> <br />Adan Alonzo, San Leandro resident <br />, addressed the City Council, commenting on the recent <br />meeting on crime held at the San Leandro Library. Mr. Alonzo commented positively on the <br />responsiveness by the San Leandro Police Department and on the willingness of his neighbors <br />to do their part to prevent crime. Mr. Alonzo suggested holding a meeting with residents of <br />his neighborhood, Councilmember Prola, Mayor Santos, City staff and representatives from <br />the Police Department. <br /> <br />Harold Perez, San Leandro resident <br />, addressed the City Council, commenting on the lack <br />of effectiveness of the airport noise insulation, crime in San Leandro, and the City Council <br />representation in District 6. <br /> <br /> <br /> 6. CITY MANAGER AND CITY ATTORNEY REPORTS AND COMMENTS <br /> <br />Mr. Hollister commented that the request for traffic calming measures will be referred to the <br /> comments on airport <br />noise insulation, Mr. Hollister commented that City staff have received reports indicating that <br />the program is effective in reducing noise levels in the insulated homes; however, staff will <br /> <br /> <br />Ms. Williams responded to the comments about the Amtrak trains, stating that the regulation <br />of trains is a statewide issue, and there is little that local jurisdictions can do to regulate trains. <br />Ms. Williams indicated that she is familiar with some of the initiatives being proposed, and <br />she stated that she will continue to monitor them and work with the City Manager to see what <br />can be done. She suggested that a legislative solution may be required. <br /> <br /> <br /> 7. AMENDMENT OF CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />City Councilmembers or staff have an opportunity at this time to request that an item be <br />removed from the Consent Calendar for the presentation of a staff report or other special <br />consideration. Members of the Public may request the opportunity to address the City <br />Council regarding items remaining on the Consent Calendar by filling out a speaker card and <br />submitting it to the City Clerk prior to the calling of Item 7, Amendment of Consent <br />Calendar. Items remaining on the Consent Calendar will be considered for approval under <br />one motion. <br /> <br />No amendment to Consent Calendar. <br /> <br /> <br /> 8. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />Consent Calendar items are considered for approval by the City Council with one single <br />action. As described above in Item 7, Amendment of Consent Calendar, the City Council <br />may remove items from the Consent Calendar for purposes of presentation or discussion. <br />Members of the public who have requested to address the Council regarding items remaining <br />on the Consent Calendar may do so for up to 3 minutes per item with a maximum of 5 <br /> <br />
