DRAFT MINUTES Page 2 March 17, 2008 City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting A. Matter of U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) FY 2008-2009 Annual Action Plan (reviews the Annual Action Plan, which represents the fourth year of the Five-Year Consolidated Plan, and implements the strategies from the Five-Year Plan through the use of Community Development Block Grant [CDBG] and Home Investment Partnership [HOME] funds from HUD). This being the time and place for the Public Hearing on the above matter, City Manager Jermanis gave background on the item and introduced Housing/CDBG Manager Tom Liao. Mr. Liao provided an overview of the item. The Hearing was then opened to the public. Liz Varela, Executive Director, Building Futures with Women and Children, addressed the City Council, thanking the City Council for its continued support. Ms. Varela commented on the recent approval of a grant to the City and Building Futures to work in partnership to develop solutions to end homelessness in San Leandro. Lou Filipovich, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, commenting that he was interested in seeing who attended the meeting for this item and who requested to speak. Mr. Filipovich commented on the public participation process. Gary Hull, Bay Area Community Services andProgram Director at Woodroe Place , addressed the City Council, expressing appreciation for the recommendation for funding of its crisis residential treatment program. Mr. Hull commented on the cuts to MediCal and its effect on programs in San Leandro and throughout Alameda County. There being no further comments from the public, and without objection, the Public Hearing was closed. Minute Order No. 2008-010 , Motion Directing Staff to Publish the 2008-2009 Annual Action Plan for a 30-Day Comment Period (March 19 April 21, 2008) and to Set a Public Hearing for April 21, 2008 to Consider Final Approval of the Plan. (2972) The City Council directed staff to publish the 2008-2009 Annual Action Plan for a 30-day comment period (March 19 April 21, 2008) and to set a Public Hearing for April 21, 2008 to consider final approval of the Plan.
