A YAC member who <br />works in a grocery store told her that when a customer has only one or two items, he asks if <br />the customer wants a bag. Councilmember Starosciak suggested that this may be an idea that <br />the City could promote. <br />Councilmember Stephens commented that he has purchased a reusable bag that he keeps in <br /> <br />Councilmember Prola commented on a community meeting he attended on March 20 held by <br />Waste Management. A representative from Waste Management informed the group of <br />actions the company is taking to address litter and noise complaints. He also announced that <br />on Earth Day, April 12, from 10 a.m. to noon, Waste Management will be giving away free <br />compost. Councilmember Prola reported that he attended the Bay Area Air Quality <br />Management District community meeting at the library, at which the risks of toxic air <br />contaminants in the Bay Area were addressed. Councilmember Prola commended Debbie <br />Pollart, Mike Bakaldin, and other staff members of the Public Works Services Department for <br />their energy savings program that will help the City significantly reduce its PG&E bill. <br />Mayor Santos commented that he attended the Baseball League Opening Days. He <br />mentioned the new 2-1-1 phone system, which offers an easy to remember, single nationwide <br />phone number for social service information. <br /> <br />djourned in memory of Esperanza <br />Abero, mother-in-law of Planning Commissioner Denise Abero. <br /> <br /> <br />13.
