DRAFT MINUTES Page 5 April 7, 2008 City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting 6. CITY MANAGER AND CITY ATTORNEY REPORTS AND COMMENTS Mr. Jermanis respond that the Council shares the concerns of her group, and are very actively involved with the other cities in Alameda County in developing policies to address the issue. Mr. Jermanis commented on the variety of actions that the Council has taken, and will consider in the coming months, to address the problem. Mr. Jermanis indicated that he would have the responsible staff member contact Ms. McKinley to share information on the subject. Regarding the comments made by Mr. Filipovich, Mr. Jermanis pointed out that the minutes of the City Council meetings are not verbatim minutes, and but rather a summary of the discussion and actions taken by the Council. He stated that the City Attorney is the resident expert on the Brown Act and other rules of procedure. 7. AMENDMENT OF CONSENT CALENDAR City Councilmembers or staff have an opportunity at this time to request that an item be removed from the Consent Calendar for the presentation of a staff report or other special consideration. Members of the Public may request the opportunity to address the City Council regarding items remaining on the Consent Calendar by filling out a speaker card and submitting it to the City Clerk prior to the calling of Item 7, Amendment of Consent Calendar. Items remaining on the Consent Calendar will be considered for approval under one motion. Councilmember Souza applauded the efforts by Recreation and Human Services Director Carolyn Knudtson and her staff for bringing the Resolution Endorsing the California activities in support of it. Councilmember Gregory commended Ms. Knudtson and her staff, and commented on the many summer activities available through the City and East Bay Regional Parks. Comments on the Consent Calendar: Lou Filipovich, San Leandro resident , addressed the City Council regarding the minutes of the March 17, 2008 City Council meeting and the questions he asked about the Redevelopment Agency. Mr. Filipovich stated that he would attend a future meeting to pose the questions to the Council again. Mr. Filipovich commented that Redevelopment Agency issues should not be handled on the City Council agenda. End of Public Comments on the Consent Calendar Consent Calendar was amended to remove Items 8.F. and 8.H. Items will be considered under Item 9, Items Removed from Consent Calendar.
