O1 I -N TO <br />THE MASTER AGREEMENT FOR FEDERAL-AID PROJECTS WITH THE STATE OF <br />CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (CALTRANS) FOR THE EAST <br />l4~" STREET MEDIAN IMPROVEMENTS, PROJECT NO. 08-150-38-228, FEDERAL-AID <br />PROJECT NO. HP2I L-5041(029) <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends approval of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute the Program <br />Supplement Agreement that accepts federal funding for the subject project. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Analysis <br />In 2002, the City was awarded demonstration fmlds in the amount of $750,000 for the <br />improvement of the East 14t~' Street Median as part of the Federal Surface Transportation <br />Program under the Transpartation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA-2I ). Acceptance of the <br />grant funds obligates City to provide matching funds of $150,000. The East 14t~' Street Median <br />Improvements include construction of a raised landscaped median between 136t~' Avenue and <br />1~43'~a Avenue and improvement of pedestrian accessibility in compliance with the ADA. <br />Upon the City Council authorizing the City Manager to execute Program Supplement Agreement <br />No. Ol 1-N to the Master Agreement with Caltrans, Caltrans Local Assistance staff will proceed <br />to make funds available for the construction phase of the project. <br />Current City Council Policy <br />Not Applicable <br />
