MINUTES Page 13 <br />City of San Leandro City Council, San Leandro Economic Development Agency, and San Leandro Redevelopment <br />Agency Joint Meeting-Apri121, 2008 <br />Councilmember Starosciak noted that the Washington Manor Homeowners <br />Association maybe bringing up the subject of AT&T in the future. <br />2. Rules and Communications Committee Meeting of April 3, 2008. Accepted as <br />submitted. <br />Mayor Santos complimented the presentation by the City Clerk's Office on the <br />online access to City records, and expressed hope that the project moves forward. <br />Councilmember Starosciak commented that the CMA is attempting to reduce the <br />number of paper agenda packets they issue, and has been sending the electronic <br />agenda with links to the supporting documents on their website. She noted that it <br />seems to be working well so far, and some members actually prefer to receive the <br />agenda packet on a flash drive. <br />12. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br />Councilmember Gregory commented that local celebrity Brian Copeland had emergency <br />surgery and is now on the mend. <br />Vice Mayor Grant commented that she attended Bayfair's 50th AnniversaryBirthday Party, <br />and she attended the City volunteer luncheon on the Mayor's behalf. Vice Mayor Grant will <br />attend the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) luncheon on Thursday, at which <br />the City will be recognized for its TOD Strategy. She asked whether, in support of other local <br />cities, the Council is interested in adopting a resolution on the spraying for the light brown <br />apple moth. There was no consensus to do so. Mayor Santos commented on the amount of <br />information he has received on the subject. <br />Councilmember Souza commented on the recent TOD tour she attended along with Mayor <br />Santos and Councilmember Gregory. She noted that it is interesting to see what other cities <br />are doing around their BART stations. <br />Councilmember Stephens commented on the State's $1.2 billion tax revenue shortfall, which <br />is worse than had been earlier projected. Councilmember Stephens commented on the recent <br />Boys & Girls Club Gala and San Leandro Scholarship Foundation fund drive, noting that it <br />would be nice to see more City participation in these events in the future. He asked if there <br />was some way to speed up the enforcement of the Community Preservation Ordinance, so that <br />it does not take so long to correct deficiencies within the community. <br />Councilmember Prola agreed with Councilmember Stephens' comment about enforcement of <br />the Community Preservation Ordinance. He commented on the memo from the City Manager <br />regarding Wal-Mart. Councilmember Prola stated that several of his constituents have told <br />him that they preferred that Wal-Mart not sell alcohol. Councilmember Prola commented that <br />he attended the volunteer luncheon, and expressed appreciation for the dedication and <br />contributions of these volunteers. This morning, he welcomed the California Alliance of <br />
