ORGANIZATION TYPE Grant <br />2005-06 Grant <br />2006-07 Graut <br />2007-08 REQUEST <br />2008-04 RECOMM. <br />2008-09 <br />California Conservatory Theater (CCT} <br />Program Statement: CCT provides a full season of five theatrical productions Cultural 000 <br />$5 $6 <br />000 $6 <br />000 6 <br />500 $6 <br />500 <br />(plays and musicals), with 18 performances of each production. Additional , , , , , <br />performances are given of each production for the benefit of a local nonprofit `~ <br />organization. Throughout the season, CCT maintains a regular staff of two part- <br />time employees (the Managing Artistic Director and the Box Office Manager) as <br />well as contracting the individual talents of a variety of union and nonunion <br />performers, directors, designers, and technicians. All of these individuals are <br />required to maintain the high level of production quality that CCT audiences have <br />come to expect in its 29-year existence, making it necessary to provide a <br />competitive level of compensation to ensure their participation and support. <br />FY2007-08 Funding Note: Due to Zimited funding, the Commission recommends <br />funding at prior year level. Commission challenges all grantees to fund raise to <br />offset/leverage City grant funds. <br />FY 2008-09 Funding Note: Commission is pleased to recommend funding for this <br />valuable community based program. Due to the limited number of applications <br />that were received that most closely fit the funding guidelines, the Commission <br />was able to recommend increased funding for several applicants for the FY 2008- <br />09 grant cycle. Please note that this level offunding may not be sustained in <br />future years. All applicants are encouraged to seek other funding sources and <br />grant opportunities to expand funding resource. <br />John Muir Middle School <br />Program Statement: The Muir Poetry Residency Program will provide four <br />Cultural <br />NA <br />NA <br />NA <br />000 <br />$3 <br />$a <br />sixth-grade classes with regular, sequential poetry workshops one day each , <br />week for 15 weeks, culminating in a public poetry reading and publication of an Arts <br />anthology of student work. This program will serve 125 students in the San <br />Leandro Unified School District. <br />FY2008-09 Funding Note: The Commission does not recommend funding <br />because the proposal does not provide broad community benefrt. <br />
