(1028) <br /> <br />The City Council accepted the recommendation by the Recreation and Parks <br />Commission to approve the Fiscal Year 2008-2009 Community Benefit Grant <br />funding. <br /> <br />M/S/C Grant and Prola. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 <br /> <br /> <br />10. ACTION ITEMS <br /> <br />Public comments are limited to 3 minutes per speaker per item, subject to adjustment by the <br />Mayor. <br /> <br />A. Matter of Support for Proposition 99 and Opposition Against Proposition 98 on the June <br />3, 2008 Statewide Ballot (adopts resolutions supporting Prop 99 and opposing Prop 98, <br />as requested by the League of California Cities). <br /> <br />Mayor Santos read a statement submitted by Tom Silva of the Rental Housing Owners <br />Association of Southern Alameda County (RHO), which is a local chapter of the <br />California Apartment Association (CAA). The CAA and RHO have adopted a neutral <br />position on Propositions 98 and 99, and the associations are in no way affiliated with the <br />Apartment Owners Association of America, which is a co-sponsor of Prop 98. <br /> <br />Public Comments on Item 10.A.: <br /> <br />Lou Filipovich, San Leandro resident <br />, addressed the City Council, commenting that <br />be. <br /> <br />End of Public Comments on Item 10.A. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Councilmember Grant, seconded by Councilmember Prola, to <br />adopt the resolutions as drafted. <br /> <br />Councilmember Grant commented that last week, the Association of Bay Area <br />Legislative and Organizational Government Committee, took a <br />similar action. <br /> <br />Councilmember Souza requested clarification on the Guidelines Regarding Council <br />Support for Ballot Measures. Mr. Jermanis clarified that the Guidelines had been <br />reviewed by the Rules and Communications Committee and adopted by the City <br />Council. <br /> <br /> <br />
