CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Gregory commented on an upcoming tour of Uptown, a TOD project in <br />th <br />Oakland near the 19 Street BART station. Councilmember Gregory commented that he was <br />chosen by the San Leandro Breakfast Club to do the speaking engagements for June, and has <br />invited Planner Sally Barros to speak on green initiatives. Councilmember Gregory attended <br />a meeting of the Bay Area Alliance for Sustainable Communities. He thanked staff for a <br />successful Cherry Festival. <br />Councilmember Grant thanked Councilmember Gregory for speaking to the Business <br />Association of South San Leandro (BASSL) this past week. <br />Councilmember Souza thanked everyone for a successful Cherry Festival. She mentioned <br />that the Aquatics Center is now open, and 650 people used the facility on the opening <br />weekend. Councilmember Souza inquired about the status of the San Lorenzo Unified <br />School District Representative position to the Recreation and Parks Commission. Mr. <br />Jermanis indicated that the Rules and Communications Committee would be discussing it at <br />its next meeting. <br />Councilmember Starosciak thanked staff for an excellent Cherry Festival, and for the <br />thorough cleanup after the event. Councilmember Starosciak commented that she attended <br />the North Coast Section Division IIIA baseball championships at the Oakland Coliseum, and <br />watched Arroyo play College Park. It was the first time Arroyo baseball made it to the NCS <br />level. <br />Vice Mayor Stephens commented on the tremendous amount of hard work behind the scenes <br />to put on the Cherry Festival, and expressed appreciation to the City staff who worked on the <br />event. <br />Councilmember Prola commented that this past weekend, he received a lot of positive <br />comments on the Cherry Festival and the Downtown Farmers Market. He suggested that the <br />Revenue Ad Hoc Committee consider adding a seventh police officer to the graveyard shift, <br />to ensure that all the patrol beats are covered. Councilmember Prola reminded everyone that <br />the Shoreline-Marina Committee meeting has been changed to June 10 at 2:00 p.m. in the <br />Sister Cities Gallery. <br /> <br />
