EXHIBIT A SCOPE OF WORK Term of Contract: July 1, 2008 -June 30, 2009 Agency: San Leandro Public Library Foundation Address: 300 Estudillo Avenue, San Leandro, CA 94577 Contact Person: Nancy Fong or Cinda Mariscal Phone: 510-577-3947 or (510) 577-3944 Project Name: Project Literacy PROJECT GOALS AND OBJECTIVES • Project Literacy will promote adult, youth and family literacy through tutoring, community outreach, volunteerism and collaborative partnerships. Project Literacy will provide free literacy support services and community outreach to the functionally illiterate population. Specifically, the program will provide tutoring, a Computer Lab, and the Families for Literacy program. • Low/moderate income individuals wi[I gain literacy skills that they can apply in social, educational, employment, and community settings, thereby increasing their independence and self sufficiency. MAJOR ACTIVITIES Project Literacy will provide on a year-round schedule: • One-on-one tutoring, Instructional Computer Lab (computer stations with instructional literacy and reading software which tutors and students may use for one-on-one learning sessions), Families for Literacy services, and community outreach sites with open-entry/open-exit accessibility; • Convenience-based schedule/location; Client customized and learner-centered curriculum; and, • Two to three volunteer tutor trainings. TIMELINE5 By October, 1, 2008, Project Literacy wilt have accomplished: 4,800 tutor hours will be provided.50 students will be served.
