r <br />IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />ORDINANCE N0.2002- 09 (loss) <br />AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING PROCEDURES FOR <br />THE CONDUCT OF RUN-OFF ELECTIONS <br />WHEREAS, Section 610 of Article VI of the City Charter provides that the Council by ordinance may <br />provide for the method of conducting municipal elections; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 225(d) of Article II of the City Charter provides that in the event that no candidate for <br />the offices of the Mayor or City Council receives at least 50% plus one of the votes case for that office, the <br />City Council shall provide for arun-off vote to determine the person elected. <br />The City Council of the City of San Leandro does ORDAIN as follows: <br />Section 1. The City of San Leandro shall conduct any run-off elections necessary pursuant to <br />Charter Section 225(d) by a mailed ballot no later than 88 days after the General Election. <br />Section 2. The run-off elections shall be conducted pursuant to the procedures set forth for the <br />conduct of mail ballot elections in California Elections Code Section 4100 of seq. unless otherwise provided <br />by this ordinance. <br />Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after adoption and the title thereof shall <br />be published once prior to adoption. <br />Introduced by Council Member Glaze on this ~o day of May, 2002 and passed to <br />print by the following called vote: <br />Members of the Council: <br />AYES Council Members Badger, Glaze, Grant, Loeffler, Nardine; <br />Mayor Young ( 6 ) <br />NOES Council Member Santos ( 1 ) <br />ABSENT None (o ) <br />A ^i <br />~ayle Petersen, City Clerk ~ <br />
